Creative Living Community of Connecticut (CLCC) named Patrick Byrne, of Bolton, its new Executive Director; Patrick began his tenure with CLCC in mid-March.
With an extensive background in marketing, communications and development, Byrne brings enthusiasm, fresh eyes and a keen understanding of Connecticut’s non-profit industry to CLCC as its first full-time Executive Director.
Byrne comes to CLCC after serving as Director of Development for Family Life Education in Hartford where he helped the organization transform the lives of many vulnerable families and children in Hartford; FLE recently opened a Children’s Wellness Center to help combat childhood obesity within the city. Byrne was instrumental in the marketing, communications and fundraising efforts for the new facility. Previously, Byrne spent two years as the Communications and Development Associate at Hartford Seminary where he helped secure funding for two endowed chairs, was a crucial piece of annual fund efforts, and aided in numerous marketing efforts for the graduate school. Patrick has also worked for the National MS Society in Hartford, University of Saint Joseph and Gordon College.
Incredibly familiar with fundraising efforts in Connecticut, Byrne is thrilled to be a part of CLCC and particularly the opportunity to build an experiential living community from the ground up for adults with intellectual disabilities.
Byrne is a native of Manchester, attended Manchester High School (2002) and has his degree from Springfield College (2006) in Springfield, Mass. Aside from his career, Patrick is an avid runner and founded Manchester Running Company, its 350-member club, and the non-profit MRC Track & Field Series; he also is board member of USA Track & Field-Connecticut. Patrick lives in Bolton with his wife Caitlin, their two young daughters, and one Border collie.
CLCC’s vision is to create a shared, inclusive living experience for individuals with and without developmental disabilities in an agricultural community, by focusing upon the gifts of all in mutually rewarding relationships. CLCC currently has offices in Manchester, operates a robust greenhouse program in Vernon, and has purchased 10-acres of land in Coventry, the future home of their shared living community.
Enjoy fresh, local microgreens throughout the year with our CSA! Microgreens are the baby version of many vegetables you may be familiar with, but packed with antioxidants and higher nutrition content than their full-grown counterparts. They taste great on salads, soups, sandwiches, or even as a snack on their own.
As a CSA member you pre-pay at the beginning of each month for a set amount of microgreens to be picked up at our greenhouse in Vernon every week or bi-weekly (your choice). The minimum order is one ounce, and all microgreens are $4 per ounce. Every order will be different so you can experience all the flavors that microgreens come in.
We grow many microgreens and are constantly experimenting with new varieties based on customer feedback and seasonal changes. Some of our mainstay crops are:
- Amaranth (summer only)
- Arugula (winter only)
- Basil (summer only)
- Beet Mix
- Celery (winter only)
- Mild Mix
- Pea Tendrils
- Radish (Pink or Purple)
- Spicy Mix
- Sunflower Shoots
