Alpaca 101
Alpaca 101 was a great success! The four-week program held in April/May was attended by 24 participants! This was all made possible by the generosity of the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut Animal Welfare grant.
Experiencing the progress of having an adult feed the alpaca one week to entering the pasture to get up close and personal to feed them the second week to actually walking and petting the alpaca's neck by the third week was a huge success for the participants!
Did you know that alpacas are effective therapy animals for kids and adults on the autism spectrum! Interacting with alpacas and other therapy animals can have a calming, centering effect for people on the spectrum, lower blood pressure, reduce anxiety, and help teach interpersonal skills.
